Question

Choose Bouquet Shape

Cascading or Round Bouquet

There's two different types of bouquets. One is called a cascading wedding bouquet style. It's bulky at the top where the bride holds it and thin at the bottom. It makes an upside down v shape. Then you have your traditional round bouquet. A lot of rose bouquets are designed using a round shape. Which style of bouquet works best for your wedding? The cascade bouquet is going to make you look thinner. It accents a top-bottom feel which works better for larger brides. The round bouquets will only accent your already round figure. Very tall brides should use the traditional round bouquet if they want to minimize their height.

Which flowers should I use in a bouquet?

You should try and match the flowers in your bouquet to the flowers used in your wedding. However, you can mix and match different flowers in one bouquet. You don't have to use the same flowers for the whole bouquet. Different flower combinations have different effects on the atmosphere of the wedding. It's common to use baby's breath to accent the beauty of each flower. Also, a green filler works well to provide a backdrop for the flowers. You mostly see roses, tiger lilies, calla lilies and orchids used in a cascading wedding bouquet. Using roses and calla lilies together looks really nice. Most round bouquets use roses. It's a good idea to mix different shapes of flowers together. The oval shape of a calla lily works well with a round bouquet. Mixing orchids and lilies wouldn't work as well because they are both accent flowers and will fight over the spotlight.

Who gets a bouquet?

No, as much as you want your groom to sport a bouquet, he can't. Well at least tradition says no. The bride should carry a bouquet that stands out from the bridesmaid bouquets. A great way to accomplish this is to have the bride carry a cascading bouquet and have each bridesmaid carry a round bouquet. You should use the same flower combinations in both bridesmaid and brides bouquets. Different shapes and dimensions are ok though.
